Before the Winter Break over 200 ASV parents and children filled an entire section at the Valencia Basketball team’s stadium to watch an exciting match. Some of our students were lucky enough to be selected to go on the court where they ‘low fived’ a number of the players. Our school logo and many pictures were displayed on the ‘jumbo screen’ and all and all it was a great “Community Spirit-Building” event.
Following that event, on Monday, January 16th two of the team’s players, Aj Ogilvy and Stephan Markovic, visited the school to talk to the 4th, 5th and 6th grade students about the value of sport and dedication to hard work. The thoughtful questions our students asked showed their keen understanding about the pressures and pleasures in the lives of professional athletes. Some free gifts such as scarves and basketballs were tossed into the crowd and all the students received an autographed calendar. Please see a promotional video at the link below.
